How is SEAJET PellerClean Different from Other Running Gear Coatings?

24 month

Our patented silicone resin maintains its hydrophobic properties for prolonged service life up to 24 months.

Biocide-free

PellerClean is biocide-free and safe for the user and the environment compared to biocidal products.

Easy Application

PellerClean comes with an epoxy primer and flexible overcoating interval for easier application.

Long Lasting Foul-Release Silicone

SEAJET PellerClean is a foul release silicone coating for propellers, stern gear, shafts, rudders and trim tabs. This foul release product is environmentally friendly, does not contain biocide and provides long lasting foul-release property in both fresh and saltwater environments. SEAJET PellerClean is designed to withstand up to an average speed of 40 knots. Suitable for DIY use as well as professional use.

Product Details

  • Two-coat, environmentally friendly system
  • Two-part zinc chromate free patented epoxy primer with excellent adhesion
  • Silicone-based foul-release coating which provides an ultra-smooth, ultra-slippery surface
  • Provides long-term protection against fouling in both fresh and saltwater environments.
  • Any fouling removes itself from the surface when underway.
  • Inactive boats or less than five knots – quick wash or sponging will remove any surface fouling

How to apply SEAJET PellerClean?

STEP 1 Surface Preparation
  • Remove any existing coating.
  • Wash the surface with fresh water to remove dust and contaminants.
  • Sandblast or sand with P60-80 grit.
  • Rinse with denatured alcohol or any Seajet Thinner. Use gloves during this process.
STEP 2Application Method
  • Use high-quality rollers, such as mohair rollers.
  • Foam rollers may deteriorate over time; if using them, replace them frequently.
  • Use a brush for edges, corners, and stripe coating.
  • The primer can be sprayed.
  • Do not spray the clear coat to avoid contamination of surrounding areas.
STEP 3Pellerclean Primer
  • Pellerclean Primer is a two-part epoxy with a pot life of 45 minutes after mixing (68°F).
  • Mix only the amount needed using a volume measuring cup.
  • Mixing ratio by volume
    • 82% Base : 18% Hardener
    • 4.5 parts Base : 1 part Hardener
  • If saving product in the cans, close the lids carefully.
  • Exposure to air may cause gelation.
STEP 4Adhesion Promoter Additive
  • For boats exceeding 30 knots, it is recommended to add an adhesion promoter to the primer.
  • As workability may deteriorate over time, apply the coating immediately after adding the additive.
  • Additive mixing ratio: 7% by volume – 5% by weight

Big Kit

  • Each big kit contains 74 ml (2.50 oz) of additive, sufficient for two primer sets.
  • Use half of the additive:1.25 oz (37 ml).
  • Mix Base and Hardener first.
  • Add 1.25 oz (37 ml) of additive to the mixed Pellerclean Base and Hardener (16.9 oz / 500 ml).

Small Kit

  • Each small kit contains 0.5 oz (15 ml) of additive.
  • Mix Base and Hardener first.
  • Add 0.5 oz (15 ml) of additive to the mixed Pellerclean Base and Hardener (6.76 oz / 200 ml).
STEP 5Thinning
  • No thinner is necessary; however, Seajet Thinner E may be added at 5-10% to the Pellerclean Primer if needed.
  • First mix Base + Hardener + Additive.
  • Then add the thinner.
STEP 6Primer Thickness
  • Use a WFT Gauge (Wet Film Thickness Gauge) to ensure proper primer thickness.
  • Minimum wet thickness: 8 mils
  • Maximum wet thickness: 12 mils to prevent sagging
  • Thickness may exceed 12 mils when applied in multiple coats.
  • For edges, stripe coating is recommended to achieve the required thickness.
STEP 7Overcoating Intervals
  • Two coats of primer can be applied consecutively or within 5 days without sanding (72°F).
  • Allow approximately 15 minutes until touch dry to achieve a smoother finish.
  • After the second primer coat, wait about 15 minutes (thumb test) before applying the clear coat.
  • Apply the clear coat within 24 hours (72°F).
  • If the clear coat application window is missed, apply another coat of primer before proceeding.
  • For boats exceeding 30 knots, allowing the primer to dry at least 3 hours (70°F) improves adhesion.
STEP 8Clear Coat
  • Use separate rollers, trays, and stirring sticks for the clear coat.
  • To prevent waste, pour only the amount needed into the tray.
  • Store the remaining product in a smaller container to avoid surface skinning.
  • If extra clear coat remains, apply an additional coat to ensure full coverage.
STEP 9Other Areas of Use
  • Underwater Lightbulbs
    • Metal parts: apply primer and clear coat
    • Clear plastic sections: clear coat only
  • Transducers – Apply clear coat only
  • Plastic Bow Thrusters – Apply clear coat only
STEP 10Launching
  • The boat can be launched within 6 hours after applying the clear coat (86°F).
  • The vessel may remain on land for up to 6 months.
  • Protect from direct sunlight and mechanical damage by covering it.
RepairsRepairs
  • If the clear coat is intact, wash with fresh water and apply another clear coat, then follow the launching guidelines in Step 10.
  • For localized detachments, tape the affected area and follow the application steps starting from Step 1.
  • If detachments are extensive, remove the coating completely and reapply starting from Step 1.
  • Maximum recommended repair/recoat cycles: 2 times.
After that, the coating should be fully removed and reapplied.
